MATT DAMON is so tired of OCEAN’S THIRTEEN co-stars BRAD PITT and GEORGE CLOONEY beating him in sexiest male polls he’s putting together a campaign fund. Both Clooney and Pitt have been named the hottest men alive by various publications in recent years, but Damon has only ever made it into the top ten. Next year (08) the frustrated actor is aiming to conduct a proper campaign to strip his hunky pals of their titles. He says, “I’m going to get a war chest going and save my money. George said I was close this year but I ran out of money for my campaign, which is why he won.”

MATT DAMON will star in a new movie about America’s attempt to set up a government in Iraq. Damon will re-team with The Bourne Supremacy director Paul Greengrass for the movie, which is based on Rajiv Chandrasekaran’s non-fiction book Imperial Life In The Emerald City. The book describes how the provisional Iraqi government was made up of people based on their loyalty to U.S. President George W. Bush, rather than their suitability for the job.

Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, Damon says, “It was a disaster. They hired people who couldn’t speak Arabic. They hired people to run the accounting system who couldn’t add two and two, and people with no expertise in post-conflict reconstruction. “It was a farce, and I think the film’s approach will be to look at it like a tragic black comedy of incompetence. “Paul’s still working on The Bourne Ultimatum and the script for Emerald City isn’t complete.” Filming is due to begin next February (08).

So the gorgeous Oceans cast is in Cannes promoting the movie and YES…MATT is there! Whoot So I added some photos of Matt with his buddies to the mess. Actor MATT DAMON will quit playing assassin JASON BOURNE after the third film is released this summer. Damon wants someone else to take on the role—created by author Robert Ludlum—and make it their own. Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, Damon says, “I’m definitely done with that. I think we’ve ridden that horse as far as we can. “The character lives on in the books and if someone else wanted to play it it, I guess they could.”

In line with the casino setting of “Ocean’s 11″, the first of the three movies, another big donor for Darfur this week was the online poker site “PokerStars, which claims 100,000 players and is making a one-million-dollar donation to the humanitarian cause.

In partnership with the International Rescue Committee, the group set up by Clooney, Pitt, Damon, Cheadle and Jerry Weintraub funds existing programmes to treat the sick, prevent disease and help children.

The 42-year-old US actor has also recently co-authored a new book “Not On Our Watch: The Mission to End Genocide in Darfur and Beyond.”

Cheadle said in a recent interview he had become an activist for Darfur after visiting the region in 2005, following his acclaimed role in “Hotel Rwanda” based on the 1994 Rwandan genocide.

“We toured the camps, and I was able to get a first-hand accounting of what happened,” Cheadle said.

“Once I had seen with my own eyes and understood and listened to these people’s stories, it was very hard to just return to my comfortable life and not do anything when I had the opportunity to do a lot more.”

Cheadle and Clooney both met former UN secretary general Kofi Annan late last year to lobby for Darfur.

“We need to press that these stories not be small paragraphs on page 17 but that they at least have as much time as Britney Spears not wearing underwear,” Cheadle said recently. “I mean, where are our priorities?”
