Matt Damon and his wife of nearly eight years, Luciana Barroso, renewed their vows Saturday on the beautiful Caribbean island of St. Lucia, reports Us Weekly, with approximately 50 friends and family in attendance including best bud Ben Affleck and wife Jennifer Garner.

Damon rented out the island’s entire Sugar Beach Resort at a reported six-figure price, according to Us, and exchanged vows at sunset under thatched roofs in a 15-minute ceremony. The groom wore a tan-colored suit and flip-flops, while the bride wore a cream-colored gown with a sequined belt, with the couple’s daughters in light-colored dresses to match their mother.

The approximately 50 guests, which included Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones (according to People.com), wore shades of cream and ivory and enjoyed a cocktail reception on the beach following the vow renewal.

Damon first married Barroso, a former bartender, in a private civil ceremony back in December 2005, and sources tell Us that the star and his bride have wanted to throw a larger celebration with family and friends for quite some time.

Yes, that really is Michael Douglas and Matt Damon under the prosthetic makeup, wigs, and crystal-trimmed suits — all part of their costumes for Behind the Candelabra, the new Steven Soderbergh-directed HBO movie (airing May 26) about the stranger-than-fiction romance between Liberace (Douglas) and his young lover, Scott Thorson (Damon) from 1978 to 1982. In this week’s issue, Damon and Douglas give a frank, funny interview about filming one of the weirdest, glitziest gay love stories ever put on film, one that required both actors to do things they’d never done before onscreen. Like, say, wearing a metallic thong — and nothing else. “Every Sunday night, this girl would come to my house and I would stand in my garage and I would hike my boxer briefs up into the crack of my a– and she would give me a spray tan,” explains Damon, who spends plenty of the movie in tiny swimsuits, and wasn’t too excited about his real-life wife seeing his bronzed backside. “We’ve been through three childbirths, we’ve been in the trenches, there are no secrets. But I really wish she didn’t see that. That’s too much.”
Behind the Candelabra is based on Thorson’s 1988 memoir about Liberace’s over-the-top world of palatial houses, extravagant clothes, and secret affairs. (Liberace never publicly came out as gay before dying of AIDS in 1987.) It’s a world that Douglas actually witnessed first-hand, since his father, actor Kirk Douglas, was once Liberace’s neighbor in Palm Springs. “I remember meeting him just in passing, in his convertible with the top down — his hair not moving,” says the actor, who also got advice from one of Liberace’s close friends, Debbie Reynolds, who plays his mother in the film. “She just told me, ‘[Your voice] can never be too nasal.’” The movie is also Douglas’ first role since his cancer diagnosis in 2010, and the actor tells EW that beating the disease and returning to acting has been therapeutic for him. “It was great to get back,” he says. “It gave me a new appreciation for what I do, taking advantage of it.”

As for their sex scenes together (and trust us, the movie has plenty), Damon and Douglas both say that shooting a moment of passion is always awkward, no matter who’s involved. “The scene where I’m behind him and going at him, we did that in one take,” recalls Damon, laughing. “We do it. Cut. There’s a long pause. And then you just hear Steven go, “Well… I have no notes.”

For more from Matt Damon and Michael Douglas on Behind the Candelabra, plus exclusive photos of the movie’s costumes, sets, and supporting cast — you won’t believe what Rob Lowe looks like! — pick up a copy of this week’s Entertainment Weekly, on stands Friday, March 8.

After a low-key ceremony in Manhattan, New York’s City Hall in 2005, Matt Damon and wife Luciana are currently planning the wedding they were never able to have–one that will take place at a top-secret location and be more extravagant than the first.

According to The New York Post, after meeting on the set of “Stuck on You” in 2003, Matt Damon and Luciana Barroso wed in a small ceremony at the City Hall in Manhattan two years later. Damon admits that Mayor Bloomberg was the only witness outside of their immediate families. Furthermore, there was no time for a honeymoon as Damon immediately flew to London to film The Good Shepherd.

Since their first wedding was far from ideal, the two are devising a second, seeking “something bigger” than their original, reports a source close to the action.

The couple sent out “save the date” cards to family and friends over Oscar weekend but even the invited guests do not know the location for the April bash as of now.

Although most of the details are not being revealed, one requirement for all attendees is: no kids are allowed.

Unfortunately, that most likely means the Damon’s four daughters, Isabella, Gia, Stella, and Alexia, will be unable to participate in the festivities.

Besides planning weddings, Matt Damon has other acting obligations. IMDb confirms he has several projects in the works, including a soon-to-be-released TV movie called Behind the Candelabra.

The site HAS A BRAND NEW LAYOUT!! After years and years of the last layout, I thought that a brand new layout be the best way to start off 2013. Don’t you just love it? Its definitely a lighter scheme from our previous layout and its much more professional/cleaner. I love it!

I want to thank Sweet Sensations for the phenomenal theme. Your level of coding and design blows my mind. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

Matt Damon still curses his poor fortune after he had to turn down a leading role in the most successful film of all time, “Avatar.” The movie star was James Cameron’s first choice to play Jake Sully in the 2009 blockbuster, but he had to walk away from the role because he had other commitments.

Damon tells Playboy, “I particularly wanted to work with James Cameron, and still do. … He knew he was the star of that movie and that everyone was going to see it anyway. When he said, ‘Look, I’m offering it to you, but if you say no, the movie doesn’t need you,’ I remember thinking, ‘Oh God, not only do I have to say no because of scheduling, but he’s going to make a star out of some guy who’s going to start taking jobs from me later.’” Australian actor Sam Worthington landed the role of Sully.

The “Bourne Ultimatum” star says he also regrets having to turn down Josh Brolin’s role in “Milk.” ”I would have had the chance to do scenes with Sean Penn,” he said.

And the actor reveals he was also in the early running to land a leading role in “Brokeback Mountain,” opposite Joaquin Phoenix. He explains, “I had just done ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ and ‘All the Pretty Horses.’ I said … ‘I just did a gay movie and a cowboy movie. I can’t do a gay cowboy movie now.’

“The right actor got the part. Heath Ledger was magnificent.” And the role Phoenix was considered for went to Jake Gyllenhaal.

Damon,42, was suppose to kiss Michael Douglas in film adaptation of book “Behind The Candelabra: My Life With Liberace”, which is based on life of famous painist and vocalist Liberace.

“I remember asking Heath Ledger after ‘Brokeback Mountain’, ‘How’d you do that scene with Jake?’ – meaning the scene where they start ferociously kissing.

President Obama and Matt Damon can take criticism of each other — we think.

Back in 2011, Damon hit Obama for allegedly not following through on some campaign promises, thereby earning himself a spot in the president’s comedic remarks at that year’s White House Correspondents Association dinner.

Referring to one of Damon’s less successful projects, Obama joked: “Just the other day, Matt Damon — I love Matt Damon, love the guy — Matt Damon said he was disappointed in my performance. Well, Matt, I just saw “The Adjustment Bureau,” so … right back atcha, buddy.”

In a new profile in GQ magazine, Damon said he got dozens of e-mails from friends about Obama’s joke, and decided to check it out online.

“I have to say, it was pretty funny,” Damon said — though he doubted Obama wrote it himself.

“Whoever came up with it,” he said, “it was a terrific joke.”

For most of us, Tony Gilroy’s The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner had us hoping all the more for another Matt Damon turn as Jason Bourne. That’s not to say that Renner’s Bourne pseudo-sequel wasn’t alright, it just wasn’t the Bourne flick we deserved or needed.

Can Matt Damon be lured back to the Bourne series? Smart money is on “no,” but he’s enthusiastic if the story is there. Damon told ScreenRant:

I’d love to, I really want to do another Bourne movie but we just can’t figure out the story. The studio had made a deal with the estate to make another film and so they weren’t in breach of their contract, they had to get a Jason Bourne movie out for 2012. And that’s when Tony came up with the idea of how to do one with Jeremy.

“I’ve talked to Paul about this, and it’s really just a question of how do you bring the character back? Is there a movie that’s as good as the other three that we did – and if we felt like there was, then we’d do it, but we just haven’t cracked it yet.”

Chances are, that story will never be “cracked.” SlashFilm reports that Damon even handed the Bourne reins over to the creative team behind the uber-successful Dark Knight Trilogy. Most specifically its screenwriter, Jonathan Nolan.

“I gave it to Jonah Nolan who did such a beautiful job with the Batman mythology – I mean along with Chris. I met with him and I said: ‘Would you take a look at this, because we really want to do it?’

“Jonah was great. He took like a month and really worked on it. He came back and said: ‘I can’t figure out how to do it.’ He told me: ‘You guys really ended it, you know,’ which we did. We had intended it to be a trilogy and he gets out at the end.

“Jason hasn’t been seen since 2004, so if we started writing a movie next year, we probably couldn’t get one out by 2014 and that would have been ten years since the CIA has completely lost track of him. So what has the character been up to all this time?”

So the short answer is this: They never should have made The Bourne Legacy and teased us with the possibility of another Matt Damon Bourne movie. Sure, he’d love to do it, but if there isn’t a story there and even Christopher Nolan’s brother can’t crack it, who can?

It might only be hypothetical, but do you think that Matt Damon and Christopher/Jonathan Nolan would make a good Bourne film?

Nearly 15 years after the release of the blockbuster flick “Good Will Hunting,” at least one Massachusetts-based politics editor yearns for the magic Ben Affleck and Matt Damon could bring to politics.

The two, whose ties to the Boston area go way back, collaborated on the screenplay for the Hub-based “Hunting,” which garnered them Oscars for their screenwriting.

Jon Keller, politics editor for Boston’s local CBS affiliate, WBZ-TV, was recently pontificating on who will run for the seat of Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., assuming he is nominated to be secretary of State.

For special elections, Massachusetts law is a little more relaxed than its normal election requirements. It “requires only that you be over 30, a registered voter and be able to turn in 10,000 certified signatures,” Keller said. “You don’t even have to live in Massachusetts now, as long as you move here before Election Day.”

Although he says he’s not a fan of mixing showbiz and politics, which just means he doesn’t live in D.C., he encourages Boston not to be deemed “un-hip.”

So, with tongue firmly planted in cheek, Keller proposed last week that Damon run for the U.S. Senate. This week, however, he removed tongue from cheek in time to report that Affleck’s name has actually been bandied about by several politically savvy Massachusetts Democrats.

Affleck is active in Massachusetts politics, as well as national politics, after all.

But does Keller think Affleck would make a good senator?

“Well, just look at how he got those hostages out of Iran,” he told HOH, referring to Affleck’s latest movie, the get-Americans-out-of-Iran thriller “Argo.”

Fair point, Mr. Keller. Fair point.

As if to make Keller’s point, Affleck was on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, testifying on the security situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. An added bonus is that Jennifer Garner, Affleck’s wife and an actor in her own right, likes to come to D.C. as well, so the couple would certainly glam up the place.
