SAVE PUSHING DAISIES

November
2008

This has absolutely nothing to do with Matt Damon but I wanted to give attention to a really good show in ABC that I think EVERYONE should be watching. It is called Pushing Daisies and its about a magical pie maker named Ned (Lee Pace) who can bring people back from the dead for 1 min, which he uses to solve quirky mysteries with his friends Chuck (Anna Friel), Olive (Kristen Chenowith), and Emerson (Che McBride) . The show is colorful, whimsical, funny, dramatic , feel good and simply wonderful. There is nothing like it on TV (and I would know, I watch a LOT of TV from House to CSI to The Office, I know TV). Its cast is spectacular with Lee Pace (from Miss Pedagrew Lives For A Day) whose so great in the role balancing humor and drama he is the PERFECT NED (he is adorable which is just a plus)! The cast also has great supporting work by Kristen Chenowith and Anna Friel whom both want to be Ned’s love interest. The show is endanger of being canceled and with rumors that ABC is waiting on Wednesdays rating to make a final decision, even if you have never seen the show before, PLEASE WATCH IT ON ABC AT 8PM ON WEDNESDAY! SAVE THE SHOW!

Matt Damon, Wyclef Jean help Haitian storm victims

CABARET, Haiti- Matt Damon kept his cool as he helped distribute food from a truck that got stuck in the mud in a western Haitian town where Hurricane Ike left hundreds of people homeless and hungry.

He arrived with Haitian-born singer Wyclef Jean to hand out rice, beans and cooking oil in Cabaret, a town that saw 60 people die in flash floods when Ike grazed Haiti last week.

Things got rough when the truck carrying 300 bags of food ran into a ditch, forcing the rest of the caravan to stop. Hundreds of Haitians mobbed an SUV carrying the celebrities, chanting “Wyclef!”

“I want to see Wyclef because he is my artist,” said Jean Sadrac, an unemployed 25-year-old. “I want Wyclef to help me with money or water.”

Jean clambered onto the roof of the SUV to calm the crowd, while bodyguards helped Damon make his way toward the truck with the food. He reached it easily; nobody recognized him.

Damon said he enjoyed being in a place where few people have seen his movies.

“It’s nice, it’s really easy to move through a crowd like this,” Damon told The Associated Press, grinning wryly as he watched Jean talk to the crowd.

About 20 people from Jean’s Yele Haiti charity formed a barrier around the back of the food truck, which leaned perilously to one side. The distribution took place right there. Damon tossed the bags to Jean, who placed them on the heads of women as they approached one by one.

Outside the human chain, one young man jumped up and down, waving a DVD of “The Bourne Ultimatum” that he had retrieved from his house after finally recognizing Damon, who laughed and nodded.

The two stars then walked to a nearby church where about 600 people were sheltered. They knelt to talk to an emaciated, elderly man lying on the muddy floor before they began serving food. Damon poured red vegetable sauce over plates of rice that Jean handed out to people.

Damon and Jean encouraged more people to help the United Nations raise more than US$100 million for an estimated 800,000 Haitians in need of aid after four devastating tropical storms and hurricanes since mid-August.

“What I’m doing, I’m doing from the heart because I love Haiti,” Jean said.

Jean, who moved from Haiti to Brooklyn as a child and leapt to fame with The Fugees, has often brought his famous friends to draw attention to the Western Hemisphere’s poorest nation. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt visited with his charity in 2006.

“Hopefully we can make enough noise that people will pay attention,” Damon told reporters earlier at a news conference in the capital, Port-au-Prince. “I truly believe in the people of my country.”

Michael Douglas, Matt Damon to star in new biopic

London, Sep 12 : Hollywood actors Michael Douglas and Matt Damon are set to star in a no-holds barred biopic of flamboyant pianist Liberace, who died of AIDS in 1987.

Liberace, who was born Wladziu Valentino Liberace, became a huge star in Las Vegas with live shows during the 1970s and 80s. He died at age 67, reports dailymail.co.uk.

Liberace always denied he was gay, successfully suing the Daily Mirror in 1957 over a Cassandra column that described him as “fruit-flavored”.

Matt Damon has reportedly been tapped to play Scott Thorson, who claimed to have been Liberace’s partner for five years, and sued the pianist in 1982 for $60 million alimony after an acrimonious break-up.

The two actors are teaming up with director Steven Soderbergh.

“Michael sees Liberace as a potential Oscar-winning role. It’ll be good to see Douglas truly flex his acting muscles for the first time in a while,” an insider revealed.

However, the movie is not likely to be made any time soon because of Soderbergh’s busy shooting schedule, according to Variety magazine.

Matt @ The One x One Gala News & Photos!

Matt Damon smiled right alongside the African Children’s Choir at the OneXOne Gala in Toronto last night. Lat year Matt had Ben’s big grin right there with him but this time Damon is rolling solo at the Toronto Film Festival.

About the event and his commitment to it, Damon said, “At a certain point it becomes difficult to look at other children and not see your own. . . Something does change in you once you become a parent. . . There definitely is a shift there that makes you, I think, a little more obsessed about helping children. . . But it’s not like before I had kids, I was like: ‘to heck with those kids!’ ”

I can’t imagine Matt, who seems like the nicest guy in Hollywood, ever saying to heck with anyone, but it’s clear that his newly expanded family of ladies have changed his already great big-hearted perspective for the better.

Matt Damon to topline Fincher’s ‘Torso’ movie?

An article from Cleveland’s Plains Dealer discussing how a lack of tax breaks for the movie version of Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andreyko’s fact-based thriller ‘Torso’ contains a surprising nugget of information: Matt Damon is set to play Elliot Ness in the movie.

‘Torso’ tells of a chapter from Ness’ later career, as safety inspector for the city of Cleveland, when a mysterious serial killer begins leaving dismembered corpses around the town.

In January it was announced that David Fincher (’Zodiac’) is attached to direct.

According to the write-up, Paramount aims to film the movie in Cleveland, but is now balking due to the fact that they can get copious tax breaks elsewhere. Production may move north to Michigan, where new tax laws are attracting a huge influx of filmmakers.

Producer Bill Mechanic said, “It all comes down to what’s the best place to get our movie shot for the least money. We want to shoot the entire movie, the interior and exterior shots, in Cleveland because that’s where the action takes place and so we wouldn’t have to relocate the crew. But without incentives, it doesn’t look like we can afford it.”

A bill introduced by State Rep. Tom Patton, Republican from Strongsville, could facilitate this, but the bill is still wending its way through the legal process.

According to the write-up, the ‘Torso’ production could add up to $100 million.

Ben Affleck gives advice to Matt Damon on daughter

Ben Affleck has been giving Matt Damon advice on coping with his newborn daughter Gia via text message.

The actor—who starred alongside Matt in 1997 movie ‘Good Will Hunting’, which the pair also wrote—admits he has been in contact with Matt and has also passed on some of his own tips on caring for children.

Ben, who is expecting his second child with wife Jennifer Garner later this year, said: “I’ve kind of been texting Matt back and forth, and he’s doing great and his wife Luciana is doing great.”

Matt—who also has a two-year-old daughter Isabella and a 10-year-old stepdaughter Alexia with Luciana—is also “thrilled” about the new addition to his family, according to Ben.

He added to People magazine: “Anybody who has a child is excited, I think, no matter what the gender is. They are thrilled. The thing that people really want, when you get down to it, is a healthy child.”
